From MORE>CATEGORIES AND TAXES, you can manage your categories.

CSA treats categories a little weird, so editing names is currently not available, but if you need a category to be edited, just contact us, and we can review the request.

IMPORTANT: Some categorization will happen automatically within CSA at import of initial and FOC orders. Because of that, we recommend keeping some of the categories that you may not use day-to-day active for these automations. CSA also treats certain categories differently when interacting with Shopify. Comics, Books, Graphic Novels are all special categories that you should probably keep around for these automations.

Each line on the categories page will show you the category name, how many items are in the category, and a bunch of settings.

Here's what the settings do:

TAX RATE
You can override your default tax rate her. Just click the pencil and select the tax rate you want to use instead of the default.

SHELF LIFE IN WEEKS
This is left over from a previous POS system, and is not currently used in CSA.

REORDER POINT
This is left over from a previous POS system, and is not currently used in CSA.

FREQUENCY
This is left over from a previous POS system, and is not currently used in CSA.

SELL ONLINE
If a category is set to sell online, when an item is created in this category, it will be set to sell online. This does not toggle existing items on or off from selling online.

INVENTORY AGING
These fields control your aging inventory value calculations.

SHOPIFY CATEGORY (Shopify users only)
You can map CSA categories to the Shopify product taxonomy.

ACTIVE
You can toggle categories on and off within CSA. This will hide them from some drop menus, and shuffle them to the bottom of other drop menus. But for reporting and historical reference, we do not delete categories altogether.
