FIND THE ORIGINAL TRANSACTION

In order to process a return transaction, we must first find the original sale transaction in CSA. This ensures that we are giving an appropriate refund after any discounts from the original sale.

  1. Search for the original transaction from the TRANSACTIONS page. You can search by item or transactionID. Note that there is a date filter for this search, and you may need to change the dates if the original transaction is outside of this range.

CREATE A RETURN

TIP: If you plan to give a customer store credit for their return, the original transaction must be assigned to a contact. If the sale you are creating a return from is an anonymous transaction, you should assign it to their contact from TRANSACTION ACTIONS before creating the return transaction.

  • From the sale transaction you want to refund, click TRANSACTION ACTIONS in the top right.
  • Click CREATE RETURN
  • You will be prompted to enter your PIN so CSA knows who is processing the return.
  • From the left sidebar, you can select which items you want to add to the return.
  • You can add items that were not on the original transaction by searching for items, clicking the ADD A BACK ISSUE or ADD A CUSTOM ITEM buttons. These will not be compared to a previous transaction, so CSA will not know if the original transaction had discounts for these or not.

TENDER THE RETURN

  1. Select the type of tender you'll be giving back to the customer. The default return tender can be set in your TRANSACTIONS SETTINGS.
  2. Most line items will have their inventory added back to the shelf after you complete the return.
