Create a buying collection

Adding standard items to your collection

  1. Click the ADD ITEM button at the top of your collection line items.
  2. Search for an existing item in your catalog (for example, Watchmen TP).
  3. Enter the quantity of the item in the collection, a grade (optional), the price you'll charge for it at the register, the percentage of your price that you want to offer the customer in credit OR a flat dollar amount you'll offer in credit. Note that a flat dollar amount will override the credit amount if you enter both.
  4. Click ADD or just hit enter from within a form field.

Bam! You've added an item to the collection, along with the amount you're willing to offer in credit.

You can also create and add generic back issues and bundles to a collection.

  • Under COLLECTION ACTIONS, use the CREATE ITEMS section to create a generic item.
  • This will create an item that has the appropriate category that is priced on the fly and uses the price you defined as the default (I like to use 0 just so it shows red when scanned into a transaction)
  • The item that is created will be named after the collection using COLL### in the title. So collection 123 would include COLL616 in the title.
  • To add the item (or many copies of the item) to your collection, just hit the ADD ITEM button and search for the COLL### and then add it like any other item.

Adding back issues to your collection

  1. Click the ADD BACK ISSUE button at the top of your collection line items.
  2. Search for an existing item in your catalog, making sure you include a number [use 1 for non-numbered issues] (for example, Worlds Finest 153).
  3. Enter the quantity of the item in the collection, a grade (optional), the price you'll charge for it at the register, the percentage of your price that you want to offer the customer in credit OR a flat dollar amount you'll offer in credit, and optionally any notes about the issue. Note that a flat dollar amount will override the credit amount if you enter both.
  4. Click ADD or just hit enter from within a form field.
  5. Note that if you're bringing in more than 1 copy of a back issue, you'll see a separate line for each one (because every 3.0 comic is a different 3.0)

Adding custom items to your collection

  1. Click the ADD CUSTOM ITEM button at the top of your collection line items.
  2. Enter the quantity of the item in the collection, a description, a grade (optional), the price you'll charge for it at the register (optional if offering a flat amount), the percentage of your price that you want to offer the customer in credit OR a flat dollar amount you'll offer in credit, and optionally any notes about the issue. Note that a flat dollar amount will override the credit amount if you enter both.
  3. Click ADD or just hit enter from within a form field.

We mostly use this for bulk items in the collection. Custom items can be used as a way to make an offer, and then you can split the custom items out into individual products by creating standard items or back issues with an offer of zero dollars after you've purchased the collection.
