Sometimes you have things in your catalog that you don't want popping up in your system. You can deactivate them so they don't show up in most search results.
To deactivate an item, go to ITEM ACTIONS and click DEACTIVATE ITEM.
You can also deactivate/activate a found set of items from the ITMS>ITEMS page by searching up a set of items you want to change, clicking on the BULK EDIT SEARCH RESULTS link, and selecting the ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE ITEM option.
- We don't DELETE things because your items are so integrated into so many parts of your system, that deactivating could cause confusing with reporting and historical information.
- Also, you might be tempted to deactivate an older edition of a book (like a 9.99 manga that you don't carry any more). But there are so many instances where an item can show up in your store later, that we don't like to totally remove them. For example, you could end up with old stock from a warehouse purchase. Or a shelf-ready copy from a customer. Or you might just get an older edition delivered from a distributor. In all of these cases, your inactive item can still show up in transaction searches, and a few other places.
