Double check your pulls for accuracy

This is the brute force portion of doing inventory. You're going to scan every single barcode in your inventory update project categories. A few things to keep in mind, in no particular order.

  • When you load these files into CSA, you can assign a shelf location tag to an uploaded file. So don't be afraid to scan separate files for as many shelf location tags as you think you'll want to define.
  • Sometimes your spreadsheet program will mess up barcodes. To prevent this, if you're scanning into Word or Open Office or Numbers or another spreadsheet app, make sure to format your column as text instead of numbers.
  • You can also scan directly into a text document instead.
  • You'll be scanning every barcode on a separate line. So if you have five copies of an item, your list will look like this:
    978168112287851999
    978168112287851999
    978168112287851999
    978168112287851999
    978168112287851999
  • CSA will be doing exact matches on your items, so if you only scan part of a barcode, you'll have to do more work later to figure out which item you scanned. We recommend keeping an eye on your scans for anything that looks incorrect, and fixing as you go.
