Add items to the transaction

A prepayment is a way to take money from a customer and hold it on their account for future use. Mechanically, a prepayment is just a gift certificate that lives within CSA and is tied to a specific customer and a specific item.

Note that the prepayment option is only available if you are ringing up a known contact. Prepayment is not available for anonymous transactions.

If you want to take a prepayment from a contact, you can do that by clicking the PREPAYMENT button on any STANDARD ITEM line item (not a back issue or custom item).

    1. Select the distributor you expect to be ordering this item from (this will help the person placing the order with the distributor).
    2. Select the request type (either something that needs to be ordered from the distributor, or something that is already coming in or will be pulled the next time you check this item in).
    3. Enter any notes about the item (in our shop, we have staff enter their initials and note any extra context for the prepayment).
    4. This creates the request immediately, but the prepayment is not activated until you've locked the transaction. This means that if you start a prepayment process and the contact changes their mind before you lock the transaction, you may want to go into the contact's account and delete the request.
