CHECK FOR MISMATCHED SERIES CODES
It's recommended that you look for mismatched series codes. CSA does it's best to define accurate series codes for you, but sometimes we import bad data from distributors, so it's important to double check this every time you're bringing in an FOC or Initial Order.
PRO TIP: If you want to manually manage series codes for trade paperbacks or hardcovers that are not getting series codes from distributors, we recommend grabbing the ISBN of volume 1 (without the +5 numbers ), and using that as the series code. You will have to add your series code to subsequent volumes, but using that ISBN will help keep it unique.
- Click on the SERIES icon between the magic wand and dollar sign near the top of your order line items.
- This page is thinking really hard about a lot of things, so it takes a little while to load.
- You can scroll down the list of items on your order and review series codes. Or you can click the NEXT UNMATCHED button on any line to jump to the items that CSA is suspicious about.
- Each line has three columns. The first shows that your product has as the current series code. The second column shows what CSA THINKS the barcode should be. And the third shows you what was imported from your distributor on this order.
- Green lines are likely correct, according to the data.
- Yellow lines need review.
- In most cases, you can just click the yellow button that's prompting you to use a specific series code. If CSA has found multiple matches for this item, you'll need to decide which is the most appropriate series code to use.
- If an item is a one-shot or second printing, you should set the series code and variant number to zero.
NOTE: The series code is what links a comic series between issues (Batman New 52 has a series code, while Rebirth Batman should have a different series code, X-Men should have a different series code).
An issue sequence number defines the cover variant (issue sequence number 0 is CVR A, issue sequence number 1 is CVR B, etc). In Moby, this was displayed as a decimal. In Comic Shop Assistant, it is a separate field.
