TIP: Inventory is a fairly touchy process that can be easy to get incorrect results from. Please don't skip any steps here, or you may have to start over.
TIP: If possible, inventory is best processed after close and before open. This ensures that your numbers don't get mixed up by customers putting items you've scanned with items you haven't scanned. It also makes sure you don't have to double check items that are sold during your process.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE STEPS
- Create your inventory update project by selecting categories to inventory. Don't forget to include categories that are similar (we group graphic novels and books, for example).
- Double check your pulls for accuracy. Pull items do not get scanned in a normal way, so you need to ensure your pulls are accurate. We also remove overstock from pulls at this step.
- Scan every single barcode you have in stock for this inventory adjustment project. We recommend scanning one shelf at a time into separate documents so you can assign shelf locations to your items.
- Upload your scans to CSA. You can assign shelf locations at this point if you've scanned your barcodes into files separated by shelf.
- Upload your pulls barcodes.
- Make sure your scans have been successfully matched to your items.
- Review the inventory adjustment that you're about to make.
- Commit the inventory adjustment (this is not reversible).
- Re-add your overstock to pulls.
